Antique furniture restoration
Whilst we take great pride and enjoyment from designing and bringing new items to life, we also belive in the importance of the restoration and preservation of antique pieces.
Furniture can bring back a abundance of fond memories. Each time you see that footstool that your grandmother used to rest her feet on you are reminded of her stories. Everytime you sit in your grandfather's old chair you recall watching the horse racing with him, but unfortunately Furniture does not do so easily.
Preventing memories from fading we undertake special conservation work to carefully restore beloved antique furniture to its original condition, lovingly retaining its character and charm, meticulously hand finished using time honoured traditional techniques and materials such as
- Intricate hand stitching
- Stitched and tied horse hair and hessian
- Layers of wool and cotton wadding
- Double cone springs
- Frame repairs and polishing
- Leather upholstery and hand studding
As we say good furniture is like a good bottle of wine, It gets better with age.
